WHAT IS SHADOWS END?

A SIMPLE LIFE IN THE MAKING - HOMEMADE HAPPINESS 2 HANDFULLS AT A TIME.

Shadows End is a small cottage in which resides a man and his cat. On 1/8 of an acre I have created a small holding that includes as many elements of an english cottage as I can fit in.

The stars of Shadows End are its trees, Cypress, Elm, Holly, Myrtle, Maple, an Orange and a great old neighboring Oak. We also nestle (cram) into the homestead: A hen coop presided over by Millicent and Abigail, a much used workshop, herbs, a vegetable garden, blackberries and a very unsuccessful blueberry patch.

Here I make my stand against the modern world and try to learn and relearn the elements of simple living. I have learned the joy of taking life into your own hands. Mostly, I garden and tend the homestead, preserve food and learn heirloom skills that bring practical joy to the neccesity of work. But sometimes I do write commentary on economics, literature and the meaningless hurry of todays world. I have been called the sentimental cynic and that phrase may fit as well as any.
